Do I have to pay Australian Dollar cash to purchase UK Pounds?
If you are exchanging in-store, you can choose to pay cash for your UK Pound exchange or you are welcome to pay with EFTPOS. There is no surcharge to select a cheque or savings account, although consider EFTPOS maximum daily withdrawal limits set by your bank. You may use a credit card to purchase currency although your bank will treat your transaction as a cash advance and there is a 1.5% fee charged by Exchange Now.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
You are welcome to pay for your currency by bank transfer, however funds must clear into our account before we can release your order (3 business days). If you wish to pay by bank transfer, order online and choose the bank transfer payment option at checkout – or alternatively, contact us and we can email you an order for bank transfer payment.
Why don’t you stock 50 Pound notes on a regular basis?
The 50 Pound note is our least requested note, as these notes aren’t always the easiest to spend due to change issues and fear of counterfeit notes in the UK. They are indeed legal tender, so if you are exchanging a large amount of Australian Dollars to Pounds, then it can be handy to take some 50 Pound notes to reduce the size of the currency you are carrying. During peak season May to September, we generally hold stock of these notes to meet the demand for large transactions.
Do Scotland and Northern Ireland also use UK Pounds?
Both Scotland and Ireland use the same Pound as the rest of the UK, however both countries issue their own version of the notes, The exchange rate and currency code is exactly the same, so you are able to purchase UK Pounds and then spend them in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Do watch out trying to spend the Pounds issued by Ireland and Scotland in England, as you may find some merchants are picky about accepting them. Should you have any Scottish or Irish issued UK Pound notes, you are welcome to bring them to us to exchange fee-free at the buy rate of the day.
